AreaSana SnowRoom Ensures A White Christmas For Any Location
For the forthcoming winter season, the Thermae Meran in South Tyrol is offering its guests a special innovation: a refreshing AreaSana SnowRoom.

The sauna world at the Thermae Meran combines design elements and comfort with a wonderful sauna experience. Designer and architect Matteo Thun created the entire interior of the Thermae Meran spa and didn’t overlook even the smallest of details. Thanks to him, all elements of the sauna world blend together to form a magnificent whole. The contemporary wellness centre at the Thermae Meran has 25 pools, eight saunas plus modern fitness and medical centres.

After heating up with a sauna or steam bath, the new SnowRoom from AreaSana provides the ideal opportunity to cool the body down gently with temperatures as low as -10°C. The body experiences this kind of cold as less intense than a dip in the plunge pool or a cold shower. And when it comes to achieving the very best health-promoting effects of the sauna session, cooling the body down properly is every bit as important as the heat experience. The dry cold of the SnowRoom actually has a gentle effect on the body and can be tolerated longer. The degree of cooling can be modified or increased individually by rubbing the skin with snow. The cold air also frees the respiratory tract and can relieve the symptoms in those allergic to pollen or in rheumatism patients.

The SnowRoom at the Thermae Meran occupies approximately 6sq m, with a glazed airlock separating it from the rest of the room. The AreaSana Forest Design is used for the interior of the SnowRoom – the glass walls are decorated with a winter landscape motif, while a wooden bench and stylised tree in hand-forged iron complete the interior design.

The Thermae Meran is open 365 days a year for health and recreation, and has installed the AreaSana SnowRoom as its latest innovative feature.
