Golden Coast Launches State-of-the-Art Training Academy At Newbury
Key figures from across the wet leisure industry gathered at an inauspicious Newbury industrial estate recently to mark the opening of Golden Coast’s new training academy.
Designed to provide a hands-on training experience, the innovative facility is split across two levels. On the upper floor, a specialised training room is equipped with a range of live controllers, while the ground floor features a custom swimming pool for showcasing the latest innovations in lighting, Aquadeck covers, and flow fittings. There is also a fully functioning pool plant and Dryden SPACE system, with plans to install a Tylo sauna for demonstrating the installation and functionality of sauna heaters.
Golden Coast hosted a soft launch of the new academy, inviting a select group of customers and industry experts to network, learn new skills, and explore the facility.
On Tuesday 14 May, Golden Coast technician Kristy Carlisle gave an introduction to chemical dosing, providing an overview for beginners keen to learn more. Then, on Wednesday, the conversation shifted to environmentally-friendly options for swimming pool treatment. Jimmy Lamb from Dryden Aqua spoke about the benefits of Daisy+ and Activated Filter Media, or AFM, while Kristy gave a comprehensive overview of the Swimming Pool A.I. Cloud Expert, also known as SPACE – a next-generation tool that uses A.I. technology to automate the greenest possible pool experience. Finally, the day closed with a demonstration of the X-Warrior robotic pool cleaner by Fairland.
Then, on Thursday, a fresh group of attendees gathered for an in-depth look at the installation and commissioning of monitoring and dosing units. Lee Holland from EMEC led a hands-on session focused on different controller units, while Kristy expanded on her talk about SPACE and its exciting applications.
The event was a fantastic opportunity for friends and colleagues old and new to get together and learn, representing the beginning of an exciting new chapter for Golden Coast. Plans are already developing for a comprehensive training programme in the off-season, with the operation set to grow in scope and scale in the months to come.
