F T Leisure Chosen For Tewkesbury Leisure Centre
A new leisure centre is to be built to replace the existing Cascades Leisure Centre in Tewkesbury, a family orientated swimming pool in the town centre, which was built over 40 years ago.

The new leisure centre will have more overall pool space and will include a main 5-lane, 25-metre pool, a 20-metre learner pool and a range of splash water fun features.

F T Leisure has been appointed to provide the water treatment and filtration systems and the pool covers. They will also possibly be providing a Poolpod access system. Poolpod is a swimming pool lift which enables dignified, independent access for any swimmer who finds using pool access difficult. It can revolutionise the swimming experience for wheelchair users and people with mobility impairments.

The new centre will also house dry-side facilities including a 60-station gym, sauna and steam rooms, a flexible activities studio, a café and a shop. The centre is part of a plan to revamp and enhance Tewkesbury town centre. It will be built on an entirely new site so that Cascades can remain open and customers will not be left without a leisure centre whilst demolition and building work takes place.

The design process is underway and building work will start in early 2015. The expected finish date is early 2016. The centre will be operated by Places for People, the main contractor is Willmott Dixon (Bristol) and the architect is Pozzoni.
